Helping women better understand the connection between hormones, sleep, nutrition, metabolism, behaviour, energy, and emotional wellbeing through perimenopause, menopause, surgical and medical menopause.
Nurse-led education inspired by both clinical experience and lived hormonal health journey, so women can navigate this transition feeling informed, supported, and understood, rather than alone, unheard, or dismissed.
The version I never thought I’d share
For most of my adult life, I thought there was something wrong with me.
I worked inside the NHS for almost two decades, holding space for other people’s pain while quietly carrying my own. I was exhausted. My body felt like it was working against me. My weight crept up. My energy disappeared. My moods swung in ways I could not explain. Every time I sought answers, I was told I was fine, or that I just needed to try harder.
I wasn’t fine. And I had been trying for decades.
The Pivot
It took my own surgical menopause, and the silence that followed it, to make me stop and ask the questions nobody had asked me.
What is actually happening in my body?
And why, after a career spent advocating for other people, have I never been taught how to advocate for myself?
What I found
Once I went looking, the answers were everywhere. They had just never been offered to me. I retrained in women’s hormonal health, nutrition, gut health, behavioural change and health coaching.
The Hormonal Transitions
I learned what oestrogen actually does.
I learned that hormonal transition does not arrive in one shape.
Natural perimenopause and menopause.
Surgical menopause, like my own.
Chemically induced menopause.
And the years of cycle and hormonal disruption that go unnamed long before any of it has a label.
I learned why the advice handed to women in any of these transitions is so often wrong, and why the same dismissals follow them whichever route their transition arrived by.
Why The Nourish Nurse® exists
The Nourish Nurse® exists because no woman should have to wait until midlife, surgery or burnout to understand her own biology. Because being dismissed by the medical system once is hard enough, and most of the women I work with have been dismissed many times. Because the language of failure that we have wrapped around women’s health is doing real damage, and it needs to stop.
The Manifesto
“I am not a coach who studied this from the outside. I am a nurse who lived it, learned it, and rebuilt herself with the very tools I now teach”
The Next Step
If any of this resonates, here is where to start.
Education, support, and the framework to walk you through transition.
Understand your body, instead of fighting it.
Your thoughts, habits, biology, hormones and emotions all shape how you feel through transition. The way to lasting change is not stronger willpower. It is clearer understanding.
The Nourish Nurse® provides nurse-led health education, not medical advice. Always consult your GP or healthcare provider for diagnosis or treatment. Your details are kept private and you can unsubscribe at any time.
‘What Your Hormones Are Trying to Tell You’ is a free guide written by a Registered Mental Health Nurse who has lived this herself. It explains, what is actually happening in your body during hormonal transition, why your symptoms are biological rather than a sign of failure, and what you can do next.
No fluff. No toxic positivity. Just the honest, nurse-led version of what nobody told you.
